Sports scholarships are awarded to deserving athletes who have demonstrated exceptional performance at provincial, national or international level in recognised sporting codes supported by the University. Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress, actively represent UKZN in their chosen sport and uphold the values of excellence, integrity, respect and accountability.

- Sports Scholarship applications for 2027 are now open
- The closing date for 2027 scholarship applications is 30 September 2026
Applications must be submitted on the application form with all the required information included in ONE PDF document — do not send multiple attachments.
- Ensure that the application form is signed.
- You must include your CAO application number; applications without this will not be considered.
- All federation letters confirming your achievements, letters from schools and/or coaches must be signed and on official letterhead — anything not adhering to this will not be considered.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Applications must be sent from an email where correspondence can be forwarded to.

Important
The awarding of a sports scholarship does not guarantee academic admission to the University. Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements for their intended programme of study in order to be considered for admission.
